I've followed the installation letter by letter, and everything appears to be working fine. The only differences I made was by installing newer versions of a few packages (perl 5.00503, DBI 1.08, Msql-modules 1.2207, Datadumper 2.101, Showtable 3.3, mySQL 3.22.27). When I run servertest.pl everything comes up ok, but when I get to the Createtables.pl step, it returns this error message:

studentweb:/var/apache/cgi-bin/wwwthreads# ./createtable.pl
perl: can't resolve symbol 'open64'
perl: can't resolve symbol '__lxstat64'
perl: can't resolve symbol 'fopen64'
install_driver(mysql) failed: Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/i386-linux/auto/DBD/mysql/my
sql.so' for module DBD::mysql: Unable to resolve symbol at /usr/lib/perl5/i386-linux/DynaLoader
.pm line 169.

Any ideas where I can start to look to fix this problem?

Well, this is a little out of my league. As long as it didn't complain about your version of PERL then it shouldn't matter what version of the packages you installed. But it seems for some reason your PERL doesn't like the packages that were installed.

Hopefully someone else around here knows more about this type of stuff than I do. Sorry I couldn't help.

Your Perl has problems with the DBI-Mysql module. Check that the two hookup OK. Write a small script that
connects to the MySQL server and do a simple query. It's more likely that it's your DBI-MySQL module.

I can pretty much gaurentee (sic?) that this is a problem with the modules. The BEST thing I have found, when dealing with DBI and the mSQL-MySQL-modules, is to go to CPAN.org and get the latest of BOTH and install them. It also might behoove you to install and use the CPAN module itself, as this will allow you to issue commands, in interactive mode, such as "install DBI" and CPAN will download the latest and install it properly for you. Don't be discouraged. If this is your first install of Perl and modules, let us know and we/I can walk you through it step by step (if you need such help).
